Bio (html accepted)
Growing up in a very creative crafty do-it-yourself family, I was always told you can do and be anything you desired. My family nurtured my creative artistic talents and never deterred me from being an artist. As a teen, my good fortune sent me Virginia Hovendon, artist and fine arts instructor. Ginny was my teacher and mentor, guiding me in my artistic pursuits and chosen vocation. She made one of the biggest impacts on my life.

I received my BA from SUNY Potsdam in Studio Art, Art History and Gallery Practices. Trained in painting, I also explored ceramics and printmaking. On top of being an artist I wanted to find a job that would supplement and hopefully compliment my life as an artist. I explored a handful of careers. My light bulb career moment was when I landed upon a community arts center in Princeton, NJ called the Arts Council of Princeton. I started part time as the Registrar/Art Class Coordinator soon advancing to the position of Art Education Director. That was the moment in life where it all came together, my new found love for community arts and art education. I knew I would always be a part of the community arts world. I now reside in Arlington, VA and am working on new body mixed media pieces. I also work for Arlington County as the Art Class Program Manager and as an art instructor teaching children, teen and adult classes. The images on this page are some of my students and example projects.

My art work through the years is a combination of personal and commissioned work. It is expressive and figurative. I am drawn to combining textures, color, repetition, patterns and an exploring different mediums. I believe exploring new mediums and pushing them beyond there normal function keeps the creative process fresh. My daily mantra I lead my life by is, "Negative energy gets you no where. Life is what you make of it. There is no time to be lazy. You can acquire anything you want as long as you work hard at it and always keep your karma in good shape."
