Following up on Chris Hamilton's comment, I would like to see some way that Arlington could assess motorists a user fee to recover the total public costs (road maintenance, traffic signals and traffic regulation, traffic law enforcement and court costs, unmet costs incurred by uninsured motorists, environmental degradation, greenhouse gas emission, costs of on-street parking maintenance, etc.) of private vehicle ownership and operation. How's that for radical environmentalism?

Did any of you get to the screening of Arlington County's new Smart Growth video? http://www.co.arlington.va.us/Departments/AVN/programs/page69227.aspx

Arlington needs to think "green economy." For example, as "green" becomes development policy, then great things can start to happen like environmentally-friendly buildings.

Live, work, play...no car required. Now that's building sustainability.
